Hair Thinned from Cancer Treatment...What Cut do I need??

I have always had thin, fine hair. I could somewhat disguise it with the right products. I have been working on growing it out for sometime. During my cancer treatment, my hair thinned even more. It seems to be staying that way. It is more thin than it used to be. I wanted to keep my hair the length it is...about at my chest but it has no style and it is FLAT. I have some longer layers in it but it will not stay styled or hold curl. Hair Product either does not hold or it makes my hair frizzy. I don't want to cut it, but I am willing if I need too. My stylist is even puzzled. Any ideas?? I have an oval-roundish face. It's also hard for me to want to cut it because my most recent treatment caused me to gain some weight..and I'm a little above average weight wise...but it's still hard because my hair is kind of "my security" and the only thing I am comfortable with since my body is changing with each treatment. BUT I am tired of having NO style in my hair!! Please help!

If you go to a great stylist in your area, they should be able to help you. It is hard to tell you what cut you need without seeing and feeling your hair. Try to find a stylist that is experienced. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Also, you shoud buy NIOXIN products. You can buy NIOXIN products at certain salons and even at ULTA. You can read more about it online, just google it. The products are pricey, but you should at least get the shampoo and conditioner. It is proven to help keep the hair you have. Many elderly, cancer patients and customers with thinning hair use it. Don't expect it to work wonders overnight though...you should notice a difference through continued use over a long period of time.

Hope it helps!

try layers....

Hair Thinned from Cancer Treatment...What Cut do I need??

first thing

sorry about getting cancer, that is always hard on people and their families

and i think maybe you should get a hair weave? like make it looks thicker

you can buy shampoos and shorter hair makes your face look bigger

so the longer the better if your self concious about the weight

im sure the weave will hold the style better

and your hair will grow back to normal soon enough

hope that helps

bless-x-x

go with something shorter and a bit spiky....look up Diane Keatons hair style, its short but the length can vary. There are, shoot what to they call those products??They have some out now specifically for adding a flip in various directions so your hair looks fuller. Look up her style online and if you like it take the pic to your stylist. This style works with very thin hair as well as thick.

Ok. I have one style to say. Layers. Layers are thin and choppy. If you had layers then people wouldn't even know if you had cancer. Thats the good thing about them. Also layers are in style right now. I hope i helped!

I'm sorry you got cancer. You must be a strong lady. I think it's respectable, that you fought through treatments and came out on top.

As far as styling goes, I'd say something about to your collarbone, would be flattering. Perhaps lots of layers and texture, and side-swept bangs would frame your face beautifully.

Hope that helps! God bless.

I had an aunt who had multiplmyeloma. She cut her hair fairly short and chunky layers, then wore a wig until it grew back.

When it grew back, it was thicker and softer than it was before, she said.

If you're feeling it looks a little too thin, maybe getting it cut for the short term? It can always grow back. ;)

The below site, you need to sign up... but you can upload a picture of yourself and try diff styles. (free)

You should get a short, facing framing cut with several layers. This will add body and volume, and any thinning/ uneveness will be less noticable.

Get cornrows/ all the way braided down. It's great ;)

There are wigs available for cancer patients. Ask your

doctor for information. Wear a pink ribbon for cancer to start.

If you do not prefer to have a wig. Just buy tee shirts and

have them printed "bald is beautiful" or better yet"

"I am surviving cancer" and let people know you are thinking

positive. There are many fighters out there. I see them all the

time, and you are one of them. my prayers to you. ():-})-{+

1] cut some layers into it - that will give it more body.

2] go to Nioxin website and research your hair type, and their products. Then search the web for cheapest prices. [ last time I got it on Ebay.

3] Finished chemo [ COMPLETE loss of hair ] for breast cancer and medically induced menopause from the hormone treatment afterwards.

Started Nioxin system on Easter, and my stylist is pleased.

They also have styling products for fine/thin hair.

Everyone is saying get layers. NO, the layers will make your hair look even thinner. Bring the length up to more of a medium length and have it cut blunt on the bottom.

PS. Please take care and I hope the cancer treatment worked. Good luck Hun and God bless.
