Always use professional products, they are formulated to not buildup on the hair as fast and to actually strengthen the hairshaft. There is no magic to getting long hair. You can try all the little concoctions people suggest....but the bottom line is you hair will grow from the root no matter what you do to the already grown hair. Once the hair has left the follicle...it's consider dead keratin protien. You just need to treat it right so it stays looking nice.

You'll want to use a professional moisturizing shampoo and conditioner every time you wash your hair.

You'll want to do a professional hot oil treatment every month to strengthen your hair.

There are 2 important things to remember when you're conditioning....

1. Squeeze the excess water out of your hair before you apply the conditioner. Your hair is like a sponge. If you put a soaking wet sponge on water....it won't do anything because it's full of water. If your hair is full of water....the conditioner will go down the drain. If you put a damp sponge on water....it soaks the water up. The same thing happens with damp hair...the conditioner will go INTO the hairshaft.

2. Rinse the conditioner with lukewarm water. Luke warm to your hands...it will feel slightly cool on your head. If you use very hot water...you will open the cuticle layer and flush out all the conditiner you just put in...back down the drain. Luke warm water will rinse the excess off the outside of the hairshaft....but the inside will retain the what you put in.

these 2 things alone will make your hair behave better and no doubt, after styling, you'll have it feeling like it did when you left the salon.

Apply a thermal proctectant to the hair prior to blowdrying.

Finally finish with a moisturizing leave-in conditoner. This can be applied to wet or dry hair.

Loma makes excellent products.

Hydrating shampoo and conditioner

Paul Brown Booster ( thermal protectant)

Paul Brown Kukui nut hot oil ( hot oil treatment)

Loma Peratin Serum ( finishing conditioner)

All of these products are concentrated and take about the size of a pea to a dime size to use in your hair.

wella's SP power mask works pretty well, do the treatment in the salon when you do it in the salon , they come with the keratin oil , its the nature protein for the hair , than buy the mask do it at home like once a week, have the stylist in the salon teach you how to do it.

Realistically if your hair is extremely damaged by a lightener the only thing that will help it out is to get a good cut and then reg trims, but there is something I use from time to time that does make your hair softer and have some shine for 1 week or so.. where I dont know how extensive the damage is to your hair I can't guarantee the results

Mix

1/4 cup olive oil

1/2 warm milk

1/2 cup of honey

apply from roots to ends throw a plastic cap over your head wrap it in a warm towel leave it in for an hour %26lt;you may have some dripping so keep a wet cloth handy to wipe if that happens%26gt;.. wash it out..

Good luck =o)

This concoction I use on my own clients if needed.. it's not a perm fix but a natural way to help with the dryness.. and with a dry scalp as well
