Go to a salon once every month and ask for a deep conditioning treatment. I swear the condition of your hair will change drastically. And u should try investing in a good shampoo and conditioner. Anything that doesn't contain sulfate, which is very drying to the hair. Make sure u use some leave-in conditioner after washing ur hair. And u should also check the quality of ur water. It's difficult to have soft shiny hair if u are washing it in hard water. And don't forget to trim ur hair every 6 weeks.

Something else that may work for you is taking Omega-3 Supplements or eating foods with Omega-3 fatty acids. I have heard of this working for a few people. Flax Meal is a great source, of course fish especially Salmon, make sure you get wild caught. It might help you, its worth a try, your body needs that anyway.

Try the new Dove line of hair care Shampoo and Conditioner for Dry hair. It is AMAZING and doesnt end up making it greasy. My hair had the same prob cause I use my straightner every day but that Dove stuff makes my hair so soft that I cant keep my hands off of it. Also, when you put the conditioner on, leave it on for at least three minutes then rinse with warm water.

OK, Mayo helps allot and makes your hair sooo shiny but it stinks. What I use is yogurt ( plain). Just put it on the ends of your hair for 10 min and rinse. Also there id milk and honey, but you got to be sure to mix it very well. On damp hair lather in milk and honey like you would shampoo. Rinse well and your hair will be soft and shiny and smell good enough to eat! lol. Also to prevent further damage try to wait until your hair is at least half dry before you blow dry. Take care and I hope you find this useful!

I have used coconut oil for awhile on my hair and it has worked really well for me. I coat dry hair at night with the oil and sleep with it in. (I either place a towel over my pillow or wear a shower cap.) Then in the morning I just shampoo/condition my hair in the shower as normal. It really helps my dry hair to feel silky and hydrated. I suppose olive oil would work as well, but I prefer the smell of the coconut. Hope that helps!
